The IRSN has assessed the 'Impact cycle 2007' file jointly established EDF, AREVA and the ANDRA
Description
After having briefly described the nuclear fuel cycle in the case of the French pressurized water reactors, this report from the French Nuclear Safety and Radioprotection Institute (IRSN) discusses the so-called 'impact cycle 2007' file which addresses the foreseen fuel cycle considered from the point of view of nuclear safety and radiation protection, while taking into account modifications which have been envisaged for the 2007-2017 period. The IRSN thinks that a cycle monitoring should be performed at more regular intervals. The last part discusses the consequences for the concerned installations and in terms of transportation of radioactive materials
