Low-cycle strain and fracture of structural graphites at elevated temperatures

  • 1. Chelyabinskij Politekhnicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

Results are outlined obtained from studies in the regularities of strain and failure of structural graphites of three trade under pulsating tension and compression, alternating symmetrical and asymmetrical soft loading within the temperature range of 20-800 deg C. It is shown that in the considered series of tests under soft loading the cyclic damage is small that is why the fatigue longevity is determined mainly by the amount of accumulated quasistatic damage. Data obtained under soft and hard loadings are compared. Effects of the paramount importance are distinguished from the regularities of graphite strain processes
