Cosmic ray and pressure oscillations observed in stratosphere; small balloon oscillations

Description
Taking up the oscillation of 5.5 min period in cosmic ray and atmospheric pressure, observed on May 24, 1975, it was attempted to explain such oscillation by the small oscillation of a balloon in horizontal floating. First, the small oscillation of a balloon, which is not expanded fully and floating horizontally, was analyzed, considering the ingress and egress of heat in gas and the air resistance of the balloon, besides the adiabatic change of gas. As the result, the following facts were shown. Ordinarily accepted atmospheric temperature gradient, the oscillation period of a balloon is 5 - 6 min, and the life time is about 30 min. If there exists an external force (wind) steadily, the resonance oscillation is observed in 5 - 6 min. Its amplitude is over 10 times as large as that at other periods. The oscillation in cosmic ray and atmospheric pressure is seemingly consistent with this resonance oscillation of a balloon with external force (wind). (J.P.N.)
