Description

In this work, the characterization of Amazonia's bauxite washing residues and its transformation into a product known for its cementitious properties obtained through geopolymerization process have been described. X-ray diffraction, ray fluorescence, infrared spectroscopy and physical tests were used to characterize the products involved in the process (raw material and geopolymer). The results showed that the residues are mainly composed of kaolinite, hematite, gibbsite and titanium, being converted into a geopolymer with a resistance of 9.83 MPa and an apparent density of 1.232 g/cm³, which suggests that mineral residues can be an interesting source production of a value-added product.
