A niobium silicophosphate belonging to the niobium phosphate bronze series: K4Nb8P4SiO34
- 1. Lab. de Cristallographie et Sciences des Materiaux, CRISMAT ISMRa, 14 - Caen (France)
Description
Niobium potassium silicophosphate, K4Nb8P4SiO34, Mr = 1595.6, tetragonal Panti 4m2. The structure consists of similar [Nb6P4O26]∞ double layers related to the hexagonal tungsten bronzes which are linked through [Nb2SiO8]∞ chains instead of [Nb2PO8]∞ chains. It represents the first member of the niobium phosphate bronze series (K3Nb6P4O26)n(KNb2MO8) with M = P, Si. The stability of the structure is discussed in terms of the size of the cages where K atoms are located. (orig./GSCH)
