Description
Influence of manganese incorporation on structural, optical and electrical properties of cadmium sulfide (CdS) is presented in this work. Pure and different percentages of Mn-doped CdS thin films were synthesized via chemical bath deposition technique on microscope glass slide substrate. Rietveld refined X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealed the fabrication of cubic mono-phase CdS. Increase in grain size from~12.17 to~18.08 nm and decrease in average microstrain with increasing doping percentage of Mn were confirmed from XRD analysis. Doping was further found to reduce the value of optical bandgap. Electrical conductivity and dielectric properties were investigated using complex impedance spectroscopy technique. Impedance analysis shows enhancement of conductivity with increasing incorporation of manganese ion. Cole–Cole plot ensured the contribution of grain and grain boundary toward total resistance and capacitance value of the synthesized films. (author)
