Description

In a nuclear power plant (BWR), steam suction pipe is connected to the dry well of a reactor container, and the steam suction pipe is connected by way of an electrically actuated valve to the steam suction pipe of a steam injector. The steam injector is connected by a water feed pipe to a fuel pool and by a discharge pipe to the inlet of a water turbine, and the exit of the water turbine is connected by way of a heat exchanger to the water feed pipe of the steam injector. The water turbine is rotated by utilizing the pressure self amplifying characteristic of the steam injector and the rotation is utilized as a power source to drive an electric generator, a pump and a compressor for electric generation, water injection and cooling. Further, discharged water at high pressure is obtained by utilizing steams at a lower pressure near the atmospheric pressure, which is used as driving water for control rod drives and aqueous boric acid poison injection system or for driving the water turbine to generate electric power. Upon occurrence of accident, since steams generated in a great amount are consumed, it is possible to eliminate or simplify a reactor isolation cooling system, a safety relief valve and an emergency condensator.
