Low irradiation dose effect on mechanical properties of alkali halide crystals
- 1. AN Gruzinskoj SSR, Tbilisi. Inst. Fiziki
Description
The analysis of experimental data on the effect of neutron irradiation on the mechanical properties of ionic crystals, particularly, lithium fluoride is performed. The complex of mechanical properties has been characterized by unit rupture. It has been found that the dependence of this parameter on fluence is nonmonotonic and has the maximum at Fk = 5.1014 n/cm2. The conclusion is drawn that with fluences less than Fk partial crystal plastification occurs, with fluences more than Fk radiation embrittlement takes place
