Turbulent relaxation in compressible two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics

Description

Initial results for the turbulent relaxation of a compressible magnetofluid are presented. Two dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (2D MHD) simulations using a pseudo-spectral algorithm are used to study the evolution as a function of acoustic Mach number for initial states which would normally undergo either dynamic elignment or selective decay in the incompressible limit.
