Method of solidifying radioactive wastes

Description

Purpose: To improve the corrosion resistance of glass solidification products containing radioactive wastes in high temperature water. Method: Fifty -20% by weight of additives of a composition comprising 40 - 80% by weight of ZrO2, 30 - 10% by weight of Al2O3 and almost the same portion of rare earth oxides (Sm2O3, Y2O3 or the like) are mixed with 50 - 80% by weight of glass solidification products containing radioactive wastes. Then, the mixture was melted at 1300 -16000C and cooled to solidify. This solidification products have higher leachin-resistance and good long-term-storage property, glass solidification products.
