Microstructure of rapidly solidified foils of Al - Sn alloys

Description

Research of rapidly solidified foils of eutectic and hyper eutectic alloys of the aluminum-tin system were carried out. It was determined that eutectic and near-eutectic alloys are characterized by homogeneity of the microstructure across the foil thickness, while for hyper eutectic alloys well-defined lamination of the microstructure is observed. A comparative analysis of foils and massive samples of eutectic alloy showed that ultrafast hardening leads to a significant fining of structural components compared with traditional methods.
