Radio observations of extended sources suspected of having steep-spectrum cores

Description
This paper presents VLA and VLBI observations of a sample of extended radio sources suspected of having steep-spectrum cores (SSCs). For these sources it is found that either previous estimates of the core spectral index are too high or the cores have not been identified correctly. This work suggests that true SSCs associated with the nuclei of extended radio sources are very rare. (author)
