Total reaction cross section and foward glory for 12C + 16O
Description
A model-independent method is proposed for the determination of the total reaction cross section from elastic angular distributions. This method based on the generalized optical theorem, was applied to 16 complete elastic angular distributions of the system 12C + 16O at energies between ECM=8.55 MeV and ECM = 26.74 MeV. Some of the angular distributions were measured at the Sao Paulo Pelletron Laboratory. Angular distributions measured by the Erlangen and Saclay groups were also used. The reaction cross section is compared with fusion measurements and with σR obtained by indirect methods. The existence and conditions for the observation of the nuclear forward glory scattering are investigated. (author)

Um metodo de modelo independente para determinacao da secao de choque total da reacao a partir de distribuicoes angulares elasticas. Este metodo baseado no teorema otico generalizado foi aplicado a 16 distribuicoes angulares elasticas completas do sistema 12C + 16O a energias entre ECM= 8.55 MeV e ECM= 26.74 MeV. Algumas das distribuicoes angulares foram medidas no Laboratorio Pelletron de Sao Paulo. Distribuicoes angulares medidas por grupos de Erlangen e Saclay tambem foram usadas. A secao de choque da reacao e comparada com medidas de fusao e com σR obtido por metodos indiretos. A existencia e condicoes para observacao do espalhamento nuclear gloria sao investigadas.
