Molecular structure of monomeric and dimeric lutetium trichloride

Description
Synchronous electronographical and mass-spectrometric study of lutetium trichloride saturated vapor at T = 1070(10) K was carried out. It is ascertained that the vapor consists of LuCl3 monomers (91.6(1.2) mol. %) and Lu2Cl6 dimers. Parameters of the molecules are determined proceeding from plane equilibrium configuration of the monomer with D3h symmetry and D2h symmetry for the dimer. Average energies of terminal (E(Lu-Clt) = 485 kJ/mol) and bridge (E(Lu-Clb) = 292 kJ/mol) bonds in Lu2Cl6 dimer are estimated
Abstract (Russian)
Выполнено синхронное электронографическое и масс-спектрометрическое исследование насыщенного пара трихлорида лютеция при Т = 1070(10) К. Установлено, что пар состоит из мономеров LuCl3 (91.6(1.2) мол. %) и димеров Lu2Cl6. Параметры молекул определены исходя из плоской равновесной конфигурации мономера с симметрией D3h и симметрии D2h для димера. Оценены средние энергии концевых (E(Lu-Clt) = 485 кДж/моль) и мостиковых (E(Lu-Clb) = 292 кДж/моль) связей димера Lu2Cl6Additional details
