Description

Usually, radioactive concentrations in air, are determined using tritium gas monitors (MTG) with ionization chambers. Calibration of ionization chambers may be carried out using tritium or tritiated water as contamination agent. This paper presents studies concerning the designing of calibration stands using tritiated water as calibration standards. Two calibration methods based on air recirculation from ionization chamber have been examined. For calibration of the Cernavoda NPP fixed monitors a portable calibration stand was developed; the system working as a sealed system (glovebox). (authors)
