Transfer products from the reactions of heavy ions with heavy nuclei
Description
Production of nuclides heavier than the target from 86Kr and 136Xe induced reactions with 181Ta and 238U has been investigated. Attempts were made to produce new neutron excessive neptunium and plutonium isotopes via the deep inelastic mechanism. No evidence was found in this work for 242Np or 247Pu. Estimates were made for the production of 242Np, 247Pu, and 248Am from heavy ion reactions with uranium targets
