Effects of X-ray film on the quality, as compared to other testing parameters

Description
The quality rating system (QWS) set up for industrial radiography for non-destructive testing allows the computation of image quality and defect characteristics from the imaging parameters of the techniques applied. This numerical approach offers the possibility of taking into account concrete defect quantities for fracture mechanical assessment. The expert who analyses the defect can simply use the QW-numbers, as is done in ultrasonic testing with the dB data. The computer code available for the QWS also yields data on IQI, image quality indices, Afnor, ASTM, and CERL. (DG)

Das Qualitaetswertsystem Radiographie NDT (QWS) gestattet die rechnerische Bestimmung von Fehlerabmessungen bzw. Groessen aus den Parametern der jeweilig gewaehlten Technik. Dies ist eine Vorgehensweise, die es den Bruchmechanikern gestatten wird, auf konkrete Fehlergroessen einzugehen. Er kann dann nur mit der abstrakten QW-Zahl arbeiten, wie dies beim US mit dem dB erfolgt. Das Computer-Programm zum QWS gibt ebenfalls Aussagen zu den Ergebnissen der IQI z.B.
