Japan: gas imports could rise 50 per cent by 2000

Japan's increasing levels of LNG imports with a forecasted 55 million tonnes imported by the year 2010 are discussed. Use of LNG by the nations largest gas utilities and for energy efficient cogeneration plants, the conversion from manufactured town gas to natural gas, and the switch from electricity to gas are outlined.
