A preliminary study of neutron body activation at the neutron field of MC50 accelerator using Monte Carlo simulations

Description

Before the real experiment of neutron body activation for the assessment of accidental dose at the neutron field of MC50 accelerator of KCCH (Korea Cancer Center Hospital), two types of Monte Carlo calculations were carried out in advance. The 24 Na production rates in AP and LAT irradiation geometries were calculated using the solution-filled BOMAB phantom. For the assessment of irradiation direction, the 49Ca production rates in skeletal parts were also calculated for LAT geometries using the modified BOMAB with skeletal parts. The best irradiation geometry for efficient 24Na production was AP. The 49Ca production rates in right arm were greater than those in left arm in RLAT irradiation geometries from source to about 3m
