Time evaluation in the process of mechanical fibrillation obtaining cellulose nanofiber (Pinus elliotti)

Description

The objective of this research was to evaluate the different milling times in obtaining the cellulose nanofibers. A suspension concentration of 2.5% by weight cellulose (Pinus elliotti) fibrillated using stone grinder. The suspension was recirculated for a total period of 5 hours, and every hour a sample was taken Samples were frozen with liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -80°C for 24 hours, and then was carried out at ice sublimation for 72 hours . For each sample were carried out the characterization tests: electron microscopy field emission scanning (FEG-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetry (TG). The nanoscale fibers were obtained in all grinding times, the crystallinity and thermal stability decreased with milling time in relation the cellulose source. (author)
