Expanding the functions of information support of the control board operator by means of introduction of the systems for safety parameter presentation

Paper describes efforts to design and to introduce safety parameter display system (SPDS) for the 1-st and the 2-nd WWER-440 power units of the Kola NPP. The SPDS is based on the present-day notion about safety conditions of a power unit on the ground of the critical safety functions (CSF). One describes the accepted limits of severity of CSF violation severity and the accepted principles to control the CSF to ensure efficiency of safety barriers preventing radioactivity release in the environment. One describes the implemented algorithms of the CSF and of the man-machine interface, as well as, the structure and hardware of the SPDS
