Metallographic techniques for investigatinq structural peculiarities of out-of-center segregation zones in steels

Description
Metallographic techniques, including the revealin and calculation of dendritic structure parameters, qualitative and quantitative analyses of non-metallic inclusions, investigation into peculiarities of liquation zone and matrix microstructure on microsections and fractures, measuring microhardness along and across liquation zones are suggested. Suggested techniques were applied for studying ingots and deformed semifinished products of 22K, 34KhN3M, 15Kh2NMFA, 15Kh2NMFA, 25KhN3MFA steels. Technological processes of melting and casting large ingots with decreased out-of-center liquation are recommended on the basis of conducted investigatins
