Utilization of di-benzyl sulphoxide as extractor agent in partition of the high level liquid wastes (HLLW)

Description

The extraction of Uranium (VI), Thorium (IV), and Europium (III) from nitric acid solution and ruthenium (III) from chlorine solution were studied using a combination of di-benzyl sulfoxide (DBSO) with tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) in Methyl isobutylketone (MIBK). They have been investigated as a function of acid and extractant concentration. The extraction were investigated by distribution ratio and extraction percent measurements. Uranium, thorium and ruthenium are extracted to a significant extent. Europium behavior is very poor. (author)
