The Rirang Uranium Ore Processing: Separation of Uranium From Rare Earth by The Solvent Extraction Method

  • 1. Nuclear Minerals Development Centre, National Atomic Energy Agency, Pasar Jumat, Jakarta Selatan, Indonesia (Indonesia)

Description

The separation of uranium from rare earth elements has been investigated. Feed solution used is taken from thorium precipitation of the solution resulted digestion of Rirang uranium ore. The experimental variables include volume ratio of aqueous to organic phases (A/O), concentration of D2EHPA solution, and volume ratio of the HCIB N to D2EHPA solution after extraction. Uranium recovery in the extraction step was ± 95 %, and rare earth were ± 20 % respectively at the conditions, including the use of 0,35 M D2EHPA in kerosene and an aqueous to organic phases volume ratio of five. In the stripping step, 66 % of uranium recovery were achieved
