Description

The general form of the gamma-ray coincidence correlation following inelastic scattering of polarized intermediate energy protons has been related to the Dirac form of the inelastic scattering amplitudes. This paper shows how an experiment at low momentum transfer of the type (p, p'γ) with N-, P- and Q-type polarized beams can be used to determine the spin-longitudinal form factor for a 0+ → 1+ inelastic excitation. Results for a limited measurement of the gamma-ray correlation in the reaction 12C(p, p'γ) to the 1+, 1 state at 15.1 MeV are presented for 400 MeV N-type polarized protons
