Ion beams at GSI
Description
The GSI accelerator facilities, which include several low energy machines, the UNILAC and the new SIS/ESR ring combination, offer a unique spectrum of ion beams. Ion energies range from about 10 keV up to more than 200 GeV. This means penetration depths in matter from 0.03 μm up to about 0.3 m. The beam parameters for the various energy ranges are presented. Access to and the use of the different accelerators for research, development, and industrial applications are explained. (author)
