Application of neutron activation analysis to determine structural integrity of a propellant grain

  • 1. Poona Univ., Pune (India). Dept. of Chemistry
  • 2. High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Pune (India)

Description

Neutron activation analysis technique is used to characterise heterogeneity of a typical composite propellant grain. 27Al(n,γ)28Al activation showed the Al distribution ranging over 16- 21%. Density also varied over the range of 1.75 - 1.77 g cm-3. Movement of particles during the curing process is considered to be responsible for the observed data. (author). 5 refs., 1 fig
