Determination methods of mechanical properties of carbon materials at low temperatures

Description

The device and investigation method of mechanical properties of artificial graphites in the temperature range 293-123 K are developed. Samples of two types of structural graphites: MPG-6 and VPP are investigated. It is shown that compression and expansion ultimate strength of the studied carbon materials, as well as ultimate deformations, practically do not vary in the temperature range studied. The suggested device and methods permit to determine mechanical properties of carbon materials at low temperatures
