Characteristics of 130x130 mm2 drift chambers

Standard multichannel drift chamber system tests have been carried out in order to optimize the drift chamber parameters. When a mixture of argon (70%) and isobuthane (30%) is used the following operating voltages are selected: 1.76 kV in anodic voltage and 2.8 kV in cathodic voltage. The tests have demonstrated that the chamber efficiency is above 99% and does not depend on the drift length. The calculations made with a regard to the test geometry indicate that the coordinate resolutions of chambers are at least 100 μm
