Investigation of sup(99m)Tc-methylene diphosphonate scintigraphy in patients with lung cancer

Description

Bone Scintigraphies with sup(99m)Tc-metylene diphosphonate were performed on 83 patients with lung cancer. The results were as follow: 1) An average incidence of 48% of bone metastases was found for lung cancer. 2) The bone metastases according to T-categories revealed the following percentages; T2, 33% (17/51) and T3, 71% (23/32). 3) The bone metastases according to histology revealed the following percentages; adenocarcinoma 58% (18/31), squamous cell carcinoma 37% (10/27), large cell carcinoma 60% (6/10) and small cell carcinoma 40% (6/15). 4) The distribution of bone metastases was seen in ribs (31%), pelvis (18%), lumber vertebra (18%) and thoracic vertebra (15%).
