Potential improvement in the mechanical properties of titanium alloys by means of structure optimization

Description
Possibilities of structure optimization for titanium base alloys are studied, which permits to increase their mechanical properties. Changes in mechanical properties of the VT3-1 and VT-9 alloys depending upon the structure and the effect of heat treatment on the intragranular structure are shown. The conclusion is made that the formation of the required structure depends upon many factors, such as deformation regimes, subsequent cooling and semiproduct thickness
