Analysis of the nuclide specific contribution to dose rate data

The gamma-monitoring network operated by the Federal Office of Radiation Protection BfS consists of 2150 measuring posts spread all over the territory of Germany we focus here on the terrestrial component of the dose rate which is determined by the geologic formation i.e. the composition of radionuclides on the ground. In order to quantify the contributions of different radionuclides to the dose rate of each probe additional in-situ-measurements are regularly performed using high resolution HP-Ge-detectors. This paper presents the different measuring techniques as well as applied methodes of quality assurance. The results of the last years are displayed related to their geographic positions. We present nuclide specific distributions of Cs-137, Pb-214 und Bi-214 for the complete German area. The terrestrial component of the integrated dose rate is separated and is compared to the summed dose rate data that are calculated from the nuclide specific in-situ-measurements. We state a good agreement between the two different data sets. The agreement presents an independ verification of the two complementary measuring techniques. (orig.)
