Effect of carbon steel initial structure on the phase and structural transformations on the electromechanical hardening

  • 1. Volgogradskij Gosudarstvennyj Tekhnicheskij Univ., Volgograd (Russian Federation)

Description

One studied peculiar features of formation of hardened surface layer of carbon steels (steel-10, St3 steel, steel-20, steel-40, steel-45) depending on chemical composition, initial structure and process of preliminary heat treatment at electrochemical hardening. It is shown that when steels varying in quality are subjected to electrochemical treatment a hardened layer, structure of which depends essentially on carbon content in steel and on process of preliminary heat treatment, is formed at steel surface
