Description

It has been realized a long time ago that there exists a certain similarity between the critical phenomena in equilibrium statistical mechanics and the fully developed turbulence excited a low wave numbers, provided that we interchange the role of the position and and wavenumber spaces. Both the critical equilibrium correlations in the position space and the equal-time correlators in stationary turbulence in the Fourier space have a scaling regime of power-law decay followed by much stronger decay at infinity.
