g-factor of the 17sup(-)/2 state in 91Nb

  • 1. Institutul de Fizica si Inginerie Nucleara, Bucharest (Romania)

Description

The g-factor of the 17sup(-)/2 isomeric state in 91Nb has been measured by the technique of time-differential perturbed angular distribution (DPAD) following nuclear reactions. The isomer was produced and aligned by (α,2n) reaction with a 27 MeV α-particle pulsed beam on a sandwich of 16 layers of 0.2 mg/cm2 Y2O3 on 2.5 mg/cm2 Au as backing heated at about 1100 K. The measured g-factor is g = +1.272 +- 0.018 (μ = +10.81 +-0.15 n.m.), which is in good agreement with the theoretical value calculated for the known configuration |(πgsub(9/2))28sup(+),(πpsub(1/2)1sup(-)/2;17sup(-)/2] using adequate single particle moments calculated for the neighbouring nuclei. A discussion referring to the additivity rule of the g-factors for the (πgsub(9/2))sup(n) states in the N = 50 region is made. (author)
