Measurement of cadmium in vivo in industrial workers

  • 1. Toronto Univ., Ontario (Canada). Dept. of Physics
  • 2. Ministry of Labour Government of Ontario, Toronto (Canada)

Description

A direct measurement of body Cd, not relying on the degree of renal damage is presented and results are compared with urine analysis in a group of industrial workers engaged in melting and pouring of cadmium metal. This measurement is provided by prompt gamma ray analysis. The method relies on the measurement of the 0.559 MeV prompt gamma-rays emitted from Cd when irradiated by neutrons. (author)
