Environmental radiation monitoring system in Fukushima Prefecture
Description
Fukushima Prefecture is expected to have three nuclear power stations along the Pacific coast. One of them has already been in operation, the other two are now under construction or planning. The original plan includes 14 reactors (ca. 13,000 MWh) in all. Thus, in 1974, Environmental Radioactivity Research Institute of Fukushima Prefecture was established in Okuma town by the local government. The activities of this facility are as follows: (1) Monitoring of environmental radioactivities around the nuclear power stations. (2) Measurement of radioactive fallout. (This work is entrusted by the Science and Tochnology Agency.) (3) Information of the nuclear energy. (author)

福島県の太平洋沿岸は気候温暖、風光明媚な地域である。そのほぼ中央部に東京電力(株)福島第1、第2原子力発電所、および東北電力(株)浪江・小高原子力発電所予定地の3サイトがあり、現在では、BWR7基がすでに運転中、1基が試運転中、さらに2基が建設中である。今後、当初の計画通りに建設された場合、全部で14基(約1,300万kW/h)の営業用原子炉が運転されることになり、日本でも有数の原子力発電供給基地となる。福島県における環境放射能監視の経緯と現状にこついて紹介する。 (著者)Additional details
