Description
The cross sections σ10- for electron detachment from negative Cl- and Ti- ions possessing velocities between (0.3-1)x108 cm/s and colliding with Na, Mg and Ar atoms are measured. The roles of the dynamic and potential mechanisms in the detachment process are discussed. The decisive role of the dynamic mechanism for electronegative quasimolecules and the applicability in this case of the pulse model for estimation of σ10- is demonstrated. The necessity of taking into account the anisotropy in electron scattering in the pulse model of the detachment process is elucidated
