A radiochemical procedure for the determination of Po-210 in environmental samples
Description
A radiochemical procedure for the determination of Po-210 in environmental samples was developed. Soil, sediments, filter materials, plants, water and food samples can be analyzed for Po-210. Wet ashing is achieved with HNO3 + H2O2 or HCl + HNO3. To separate disturbing substances, a coprecipitation with Te is used for sample materials containing silica. Po-210 deposition from HCl solution on Ag platelets with other sample materials is possible directly. Deposited Po-210 is counted by α-spectrometry. For chemical yield determination Po-208 is added, yields range between 60% and 100%. A lower detection limit of about 0,002 pCi Po-210/sample is achievable. (orig./HP)

Eine radiochemische Methode zur Bestimmung von Po-210 in Umweltproben wurde entwickelt. Erde, Sedimente, Filter, Pflanzen, Wasser und Nahrungsmittel koennen auf Po-210 analysiert werden. Zur Nassveraschung wird HNO3 + H2O2 oder HCl + HNO3 verwendet, zur Abtrennung von stoerenden Bestandteilen bei SiO2-haltigen Proben eine Te-Mitfaellung verwendet. Aus allen anderen Proben wird Po-210 direkt aus HCl auf Ag-Plaettchen abgeschieden. Die Messung erfolgt durch α-Spektrometrie, die Bestimmung der chemischen Ausbeute durch zugesetztes Po-208 mit Ausbeuten zwischen 60% und 100%. Die Nachweisgrenze betraegt ca. 0,002 pCi Po-210/Probe.
