Neutron physics optimization and design of a medium-power research reactor, aimed at a high flux for steel tube experiments
Description
With a compact core power of 20 MW, the conceived Munich Research Reactor II is designed to offer experimental possibilities, with about half the utilizable neutron flux, which would be comparable to the Grenoble HFR. The most important criteria, such as coolability, operating cycles with one fuel element, maximum fission density, and core design, are dealt with. Geometry calculations, design studies for a compact core for 93% uranium enrichment, temperature and boiling coefficients, and transport calculations are presented. (DG)

Bei einer Leistung des Kompaktkerns von 20 MW soll der konzipierte FRM II bei etwa dem halben nutzbaren Fluss an Neutronen Experimentiermoeglichkeiten bieten, die vergleichbar zum HFR Grenoble waeren. Die wichtigsten Kriterien wie Kuehlbarkeit, Betriebszyklen mit einem Brennelement, maximale Spaltdichte und Kernauslegung werden behandelt. Geometrierechnungen, Auslegungsstudien fuer einen Kompaktkern fuer 93% Anreicherung des Urans, Temperatur- und Siedekoeffizienten sowie Transportrechnungen werden vorgestellt. (DG)Additional details
