Validation of the CASMO-4 transport solution

  • 1. Studsvik of America, Boston, MA (United States)

Description

The two-dimensional transport solution within CASMO-4 has recently been replaced. The new module, KRAM, solves the Boltzmann equation using the method of characteristics while maintaining the true geometry of the problem (i.e., no need for homogenisation of regions). This supersedes the previous module, HETRAP, which uses collision probabilities within individual cells and ties the cell together via surface currents. Various results from the validation process are presented, encompassing the KRAM module alone, CASMO-4 along and CASMO-4/SIMULATE-3 together. (orig.)
