Phase equilibria in the GaTe-SnTe-, InTe-SnTe systems

Description

Using the methods of differential-thermal, microstructure and X-ray analysis phase equilibrii have been studied and phase diagrams of quasibinary sections of GaTe-SnTe and InTe-SnTe plotted. The nature of the phase equilibrium in the systems investigated has been analysed in the approximation of the theory of ideal and regular solutions. It has been established that the energy of mixing of liquid solutions of GaTe in SnTe is close to zero, which points to weak interaction and the near-ideal nature of the solutions. Solutions of SnTe in GaTe are not regular, since their mixing energy is below 2RT. The mixing energy for the InTe-SnTe system is positive, which corresponds to the eutectic character of the phase equilibrium diagram
