Magnetic and spectroscopic properties of vanadium(3) complexes with picolines
Description
Anhydrous VCl3 is known to react with α, β and γ-picolines to form the penta-coordination dimeric compounds. Those compounds dissolved in acetonitrile are of the 1:2 type of electrolyte. Magnetic (lowered magnetic moments) and spectroscopic results in VIS and IR (νV-Cl-V) are indicative of the dimeric structure of the compounds examined with chloride bridges and of the lowered coordination number.
