Analyzing nuclear waste transportation options the use of life cycle cost

  • 1. Battelle Project Management Div., Columbus, OH (USA)

Description

This paper summarizes the way in which life cycle cost (LCC) is being used to help analyze and evaluate conceptual designs for a new generation of spent fuel transportation casks. The LCC model is described and some hypothetical cask designs are used to illustrate the way in which the model can help one identify which design features are most important in achieving cost-effective operation over the lifetime of the cask
