The myth of plutonium toxicity

This chapter outlines the calculation of the cancer risk from the intake of plutonium based on standard procedures recommended by all the national and international organizations involved, and accepted by a majority of radiobiomedical scientists. Topics considered include criticisms of standard procedures, the consequences of plutonium dispersal, and the dangers of plutonium dispersal. It is emphasized that nearly all of the damage done in Pu dispersal is by the initial cloud of dust, and all of the later resuspension and the thousands of years spent in the soil do far less damage
