Description
A study of natural background radiation in the environment of known uranium occurrences and deposits hosted by Lower Mahadek sandstone on southern margin of Meghalaya plateau has been carried out with objective of establishing baseline environmental γ radiation dose equivalent level and its relation with underlying lithology. The study area is divided into 18 sectors having six predominant lithological formations. The data of 365 sampling points of 18 sectors and six lithological formations has been analysed and compared using one way ANOVA. The analysis results clearly indicate strong relation between γ-dose equivalent measurement and surface lithology. (author)
