The development and evaluation of advanced concepts in nuclear power plant control
Description
The OECD Halden Reactor Porject has been carrying out research and development on advanced computer-based systems for nuclear plant control for many years. This paper provides a brief overview of current work and describes systems for supporting the control room operator both during plant disturbances and routine operations. These systems, which have been developed on the basis of close cooperation with power utilities, vendors and regulatory bodies, are tested and evaluated in the Halden Man-machine Laboratory which is equipped with a full-scope nuclear power plant simulator dedicated to experimental research.
