Heavy forgings from steel 22K for pressure vessels
Description
It was confirmed that the forming conditions of forging heavy pieces from steel 22K for reactor pressure vessels did not affect the resulting quality of forgings. The rate of cooling from austenitizing temperature during heat treatment has a significant effect on toughness and transient temperature. An increased cooling rate causes the reduction in the free ferrite volume, the increase in yield point, and significantly affects transient temperature. If sufficient steel purity is maintained and suitable heat treatment is used, it is possible to reliably achieve for steel 22K at least 50% tough fracture at +50 degC in the whole cross section of thick rings. Notch toughness reaches a value of 100 Jcm-2 and more. (Ha)
