PNRI @ 50 Making Nuclear Science & Technology Work for You
Description
This year's Atomic Energy Week is undoubtedly a historic event as at the same time, the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) celebrates its 50th founding anniversary. It was on June 13, 1958 when Republic Act 2067, also known as the Science Act of 1958, was enacted, bringing about the creation of the National Science Development Board and the Philippine Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), now the Department of Science and Technology and the PNRI, respectively. PAEC's early years were characterized by vigorous cooperative work among its pioneering manpower. Those were years of creative imagination, careful planning, assembly and construction. PNRI today, being powered by a dynamic workforce, lives up to expectations and equals its forerunner in enthusiasm, innovation and technical prowess. By this book, we endeavor to visually chronicle, albeit concisely, the all-important highlights of PAEC/PNRI history, not only to present with deep sense of pride the achievements that made the Institute's name synonymous to scientific excellence, but also to bring back most cherished memories with which we and, hopefully, our successors carry on inspired.
