A development of the broadband ultrasonic probe for the austenitic stainless steel weld
Description
The authors report the development of a new broadband longitudinal wave angle probe which shows very profitable for testing the austenitic stainless steel weld. It not only has high signal-to-noise ratio, high resolution, but it also has enough sensitivity for testing coarse grained materials. The araldite/tungsten backing made by suction method can match the PZT plate much better than usual mixing method. The best acoustic impedance of backing has been investigated and the cementing quality is controlled by assembly jig
